Since It’s Sunday

Well…it appears that no atheist group was discovered molesting children nor having their leadership protecting them and thwarting investigations of their crimes.  No atheist serial rapists were reported to have been shuttled from one branch to another of any atheist organization and allowed to continue abusing children.  The Catholic Church seems to have a monopoly on those actions these days.

It is difficult not to dwell on the crimes of the Catholic Church as not only are they so despicable, the attitudes and defenses projected from the Pope and his minions are repulsive to most sensible people.  They are blaming the victims, the media and even portraying the response to the sexual abuse, rape and violence of young children as akin to “antisemitism.”  This piece from the BBC is a staggering reminder of how out of touch with public sentiment about the charges against the Catholic Church and its pederast priests truly is.

Pope’s Preacher Compares Abuse Row To Anti-Semitism

The Rev Raniero Cantalamessa was speaking at Good Friday prayers in St Peter’s Basilica, attended by the Pope.

In his sermon, he quoted a Jewish friend as saying the accusations reminded him of the “more shameful aspects of anti-Semitism”.

His comments angered Jewish groups and those representing abuse victims.

Father Cantalamessa said Jews throughout history had been the victims of “collective violence” and drew a comparison with recent attacks on the Roman Catholic Church.

Yes, the pogroms, discrimination, deportation to work camps,  genocidal attempts and so forth against the Jews is just like the public outcry against pedophile priests and the Church that protects them.  No, really.

The BBC’s David Willey, in Rome, says the comments show the Church is continuing to defend itself rigorously and outspokenly against accusations of having systematically covered up cases of sexual abuse by priests in recent decades.

Defending itself yet not accepting responsibility.

But Stephan Kramer, general-secretary of Germany’s Central Council of Jews, described the remarks as offensive and repulsive.

“So far I haven’t seen St Peter’s burning, nor were there outbursts of violence against Catholic priests,” he said.

“I’m without words. The Vatican is now trying to turn the perpetrators into victims.”

Peter Isely, spokesman for the US victim support group Snap, said the sermon had been “reckless and irresponsible”.

He said: “They’re sitting in the papal palace, they’re experiencing a little discomfort, and they’re going to compare themselves to being rounded up or lined up and sent in cattle cars to Auschwitz?

“You cannot be serious.”

Ah, but they can.  And they are.  They…just…don’t….get….it.

In the good old days the Catholic Church could just excommunicate any who accused them.  They could exile or torture and kill them.  They could take their property. Those days are gone and now the whole world is saying they are sick of the predation, pederasty and especially the protection of these sick and twisted people known as Catholic Priests.  More of these predator priests should meet the same end that defrocked priest John J. Geoghan did than Rev. Lawrence C. Murphy.

While the whole world stifles a collective gag at the repulsiveness of the crimes committed by the Catholic Church, the Church is accusing virtually the whole world and acting as if they are the victims.    In the meantime, the Church still preaches its sanctimonious bovine feces, dictates what others should must do and  not do and has the gall to assert that the Pope is God’s vicar on Earth.  I’ll leave my comments with the following:

Amen.
