gop-out-of-biz

As the GOP discovers the wonderful connected tubes of the Internets, they have put together GOP.com.  They have a cute section with faces of the GOP.  You will see a lot of black faces on that part of their page.  The thing is…these are blacks  were mostly part of the Republican Party before the pole shift of political parties.  In other words, they are from the days when the Republicans were the anti-racist, anti-slavery party and the Democrats were the racist, pro-slavery party.  And Talking Points Memo points out this interesting addition…woops…I mean subtraction from their page:

RNC Web Site Pays Tribute To Ronaldus Magnus

The site’s page on Ronald Reagan includes this citation of the party’s great hero, giving him a stylized name we might see on a Roman emperor:

Our country has to decide, said Ronaldus Magnus, “whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether to abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives better than we can plan them ourselves.”And to think that the GOP makes fun of the Democrats for allegedly worshiping Obama.

ronaldus-magnus

Of course, when challenged on this absurdity, the Roman title was removed and a new scrubbed version of the story came out.  As TPM notes, it now simply says, “Our country has to decide, said Reagan…”

All the GOP has is the myth of Ronald Reagan to fall back on.  And some black folks from pre-civil war days.  Makes me want to join right up.

Not.
