Just Die

omgAnd Quickly.

A Democratic Congressman stated, at last, what the Republican perspective on health care is.  The truth hurts is seems.

Democrat Says GOP Wants Sick To Just ‘Die Quickly’

Seeking payback for a reprimand of one of their own for heckling President Barack Obama, House Republicans want a Democratic lawmaker to apologize or face a reprimand for saying the GOP wants Americans to “die quickly” if they get sick.

Amid the bitter political bickering, Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., on Wednesday stood firmly behind his comments.

“People like elected officials with guts who say what they mean,” Grayson told reporters after Republicans threatened to introduce a resolution disapproving of his comments. “I stand by what I said.”

Grayson’s made his remarks Tuesday night on the House floor as he criticized Republican health care proposals as a “blank piece of paper.”

“If you get sick, America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly,” he said. “That’s right. The Republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick.”

The rhetoric wasn’t spontaneous: He reinforced his point with signs saying the same thing.

And though I am not familiar with this Congressman, his performance on the totally feeble and near pathetic Situation Room has endeared him to me:

The facts are clear.  The Republicans have done nothing but obstruct the progress of this bill.  Their plan is to resist any and every aspect of it in order to attempt to undermine President Obama.  This guy got up on the floor and made it plain that the GOP gives dick-all about the American people.  He faced down some of the most vacuous facsimiles of journalists on television with facts and held his ground.  Why should he apologize?  And how can the right equate his comments with Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” attack on the president?  Because they have nothing.  They are bankrupt of ideas, plans and policies.  Trying to equate these comments on the floor of the House to the racist right wing thug Joe Wilson that did his best to insult the president of the United States in front of millions of viewers is ludicrous.  Joe Wilson, it must be remembered, is the liar.  This Congressman clearly pointed out that the obstructionist tactics and antics of the GOP are equivalent to telling Americans not to get sick and if they do to die quickly.

And my hat is off to him for his comments and for standing by his words.  Unlike the many Republicans who have chastised or made negative comments about Rush Limbaugh that have come back after a trip to the GOP woodshed to grovel at his feet and apologize and kowtow to him.

Deal with it Republicans.  Americans are tired of your crap.
