What is International Blasphemy Day you ask?
International Blasphemy Day is not just a day. It is a movement to dismantle the wall which exists between religion and criticism.
The objective of International Blasphemy Day is to open up all religious beliefs to the same level of free inquiry, discussion and criticism to which all other areas of academic interest are subjected.
Well fuck my Jesus and bite God’s fuzzy nuts! I’m down with that. Especially if it pisses off God’s own douchnozzle Bill Donahue.
Now go out there and offend some fundamentalists and their invisible friend.
That Mr. Deity. What a trickster.
No, not the evil Adolph Hitler. A Republican Representative from Arizona has called the president of the United States an enemy of humanity. And the response from the leaders of his party? Still waiting.
The crazy train is running right through the U.S. House of Representatives. The crazy train is building speed and it seems there are no hands on the break to even slow it down. The right wing rag Newsmax is asking if a military coup is the answer to the “Obama Problem.”
There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.
America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it.
No, really. Describing what may be “afoot” is not to advocate it he says. Quick Watson! The game is afoot. We aren’t a thrid wold country so it would be “civilized” if it happened. Are these people insane? This douchnozzle continues:
Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?
Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.
Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.
Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”
In the 2008 election, that was the wistful, self-indulgent, indifferent reliance on abnegation of personal responsibility that has sunk the nation into this morass.
One can almost hear the salivating of the Teabaggers as their excitement builds in hopes of such an event. This week a poll was posted on Facebook. Here is what it asked:
It seems that one over the top proposition, accusation, or assertion is being met with more and the Republican Party seems to be saying, if they say anything at all, that there were people who said bad things about Bush. They must have forgotten that a man went to prison because he made a joke about a “Burning Bush.” He got 37 months in prison for that.
The crazy train is steaming along and seems to be picking up steam. One wonders when it will derail and how much damage it will cause.
I hear that train a coming…
It seems that there are several Dems that are doing everything they can to help the Republicans defeat the public option. It isn’t over yet but this is not encouraging.
A coalition of Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee joined together Tuesday to defeat a public health insurance option.
Five Democrats joined with all the Republicans on the committee to reject an amendment by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) in a 15-8 vote.
Three Democrats then joined the Republicans to defeat a second public-option proposal. By a vote of 13-10, the committee rejected an amendment by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.).
Schumer, however, said the debate is far from over. He acknowledged during the debate that the public option doesn’t yet have the 60 votes on the Senate floor it needs to overcome a filibuster, but he emphasized to Huffington Post outside the hearing room: “Yet. I said ‘yet.'”
Will “yet” become “nyet?” The Dems have the House and the Senate and can’t deliver what the people overwhelmingly want. In 2010 I hope these same Dems are experiencing the unemployment that is affecting so many other Americans.
We’re gluttons for infographics, and a team at Kansas State just served up a feast: maps of sin created by plotting per-capita stats on things like theft (envy) and STDs (lust). Christian clergy, likely noting the Bible Belt’s status as Wrath Central, question the “science.” Valid point—or maybe it’s just the pride talking.
You can link to the site, but these few are interesting:
Total thefts (robbery, burglary, larceny, and grand theft auto) per capita.
Number of violent crimes (murder, assault, and rape) per capita.
Number of STD cases reported per capita.
Aggregate of the other six offenses—because pride is the root of all sin.
So…The Bible Belt and sin. What would Jebus think?
One wonders if this guy ever gets laid:
I just don’t see that as a viable pick up line.
“Hey baby, this nation is headed towards eating their babies. Wanna go out for a drink?”
Seriously. What is wrong with these people. This was from a protest in front of a synagogue in New York. This group, Westboro Baptist, was just here in Atlanta doing the same thing in front of synagogues here. I wonder who finances these insane people and what they really get out their antics. One thing for sure, it isn’t intimate relationships with people outside of their inbred circle.
Score more. Another reason to drop the superstitious myths.
It would be amusing to just have a contest asking people to guess what the vertical axis on this chart is supposed to represent.
The answer is, “reply rate to first-contact messages on an online dating site, as a function of words appearing in the message.” In particular, the site OkCupid, which has a handy rundown of which words and phrases are most likely to garner a reply to an initial contact. (Via FlowingData.) The average response rate is 32%, so you can see how using some specific word increases or decreases your chances of success. Apparently mentioning “God” is a big turn-off, although calling Him by a proper name is slightly helpful. But nothing works at turning a stranger’s head quite like bringing up His complete lack of existence
Yeah. God is such a downer in so many ways. Christians may have their Jewish Carpenter, but the girls like Atheists to sport their wood….
