And you have proof that Obama is a closeted Muslim, socialist/fascist, terrorist, racist, foreigner that came here to destroy us all but only after he rapes our white women.
So vote Republican. It is your only chance for survival…
If the Democrats cannot beat these whack jobs then they deserve to lose and let the lunatics run the asylum. Politico reports:
A whopping 58 percent of Republicans either think Barack Obama wasn’t born in the US (28 percent) or aren’t sure (30 percent). A mere 42 percent think he was.
That means a majority of Republicans polled either don’t know about — or don’t believe the seemingly incontrovertible evidence Obama’s camp has presented over and over and over that he was born in Hawaii in ’61.
It also explains why Republicans, including Roy Blunt, are playing footsie with the Birther fringe.
Surprise, surprise: Birther sentiment was strongest in the South and among the 60-plus crowd – presumably because seniors can’t log on to the Internet and rely on rumor, word of mouth and right-wing talk radio.
Honey! Sean Hannity said that black fellow ain’t no ‘Merican and Glenn Beck backed him up!
And in the end will we call it, too, peace?
The United Nations said Friday the number of civilians killed in conflict in Afghanistan has jumped 24 percent so far this year, with bombings by insurgent and airstrikes by international forces the biggest single killers.
In a grim assessment of the first half of 2009, the U.N. assistance mission in Afghanistan said the Taliban and other anti-government militants have become more deadly by shifting from ambush attacks to suicide bombings, roadside explosives and targeted assassinations.
It is called escalation. It is what we are doing.
The report said international forces have given high priority to minimizing civilian casualties, but along with Afghan forces have killed 310 civilians. Of those, 200 were killed in 40 airstrikes. The total death toll — including those which couldn’t be attributed to either side — of 1,013 civilians is 24 percent higher than in the same period in 2008, and 48 percent higher than in 2007.
Air strikes. Instigated and directed by misinformation, disinformation, snitches and bad intelligence. And for every civilian we kill how many more “terrorists” do we breed? Can we kill our way out of this war? We act like we are willing to try. But…”the next 18 months will be critical for the history of Afghanistan.” It seems they say that every six months. Victory is just around the corner. I am sure of it. A few more years, hundreds more bombs and missiles, and who knows how many of ours and theirs will die to bring us…what? I keep forgetting. The attacks by Saudi hijackers on 9/11 is why we are in Afghanistan for eight years? Or is it democracy we are spreading? The lies and stories get jumbled up over the years and I really can’t remember. I guess it doesn’t matter anyway. We are there and we aren’t leaving so…stay the course.
It’s worked so well so far…
I’ve said for years that we should just call it a victory, build a monument and get the hell out of Iraq. The reason is that no matter when we did it that it would be a lie. There is no such thing as a “victory” in what we did to that country. I believe it was Tacitus writing in the first century CE that said, “To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire; and where they make a desert, they call it peace.” Truly this is what we have accomplished. All the dead, the wounded and the psychologically traumatized we leave in our wake. And for what? It sickens me to think of it all.
As the old saying goes, “guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.” Since the signing of the 2009 Security Agreement, we are guests in Iraq, and after six years in Iraq, we now smell bad to the Iraqi nose. Today the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) are good enough to keep the Government of Iraq (GOI) from being overthrown by the actions of Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), the Baathists, and the Shia violent extremists that might have toppled it a year or two ago. Iraq may well collapse into chaos of other causes, but we have made the ISF strong enough for the internal security mission. Perhaps it is one of those infamous paradoxes of counterinsurgency that while the ISF is not good in any objective sense, it is good enough for Iraq in 2009. Despite this foreboding disclaimer about an unstable future for Iraq, the United States has achieved our objectives in Iraq. Prime Minister (PM) Maliki hailed June 30th as a “great victory,” implying the victory was over the US. Leaving aside his childish chest pounding, he was more right than he knew. We too ought to declare victory and bring our combat forces home. Due to our tendency to look after the tactical details and miss the proverbial forest for the trees, this critically important strategic realization is in danger of being missed.
Yeah. We have “achieved our objectives” in Iraq. Death and slaughter without provocation. Yippee! We won. Now let’s leave and try to forget what we really have done to those people. It is one of the things that Americans do well.
Because the right wing never runs out of tactics to try and scare you into submission:
So…don’t let truth get in the way of your propaganda…Just keep spinning away for your corporate masters. The US military gets ‘socialized” medicine. Medicaid is a “socialized” health care system. The US Congress gets “socialized” healthcare. But if you want it then you…are…going …to….die!!!
Sadly, the sheeple that graze across this country on the fertile fields of corporate PR will swallow this pap, digest it and cry out in intestinal discomfort…”We don’t want no socialized health care.” And…conveniently…their elected representatives will do their best to keep it from happening. And those representatives also happen to be receiving vast sums of money from the people spreading the seeds of PR and propaganda.
The big boys are swinging hard and they aren’t taking any prisoners.
Captain Kirk turns Sarah Palin’s incoherence into…poetry:
Otherwise it is pure unintelligible garbledy-gook…
Pharyngula posted this rebuttal to Bill O’Lielly and the usual suspects of Faux News hacks trashing of Amsterdam as they shilled for the status quo of the the absolute failure of our drug policies here in the U. S.
If I could find a job there I would move to Amsterdam in a heartbeat. Hmmm…Amsterdam v U.S? Freedom, democratic socialism that works, one of the highest standards of living in the world….and cannabis cafes. The phrase “No Brainer” comes to mind.
On another note, Professor Myers is going to the Creation Museum with a “horde” of godless trash and will be reporting on their trip soon. I think it should make for some interesting reading and few humorous stories. Stay tuned.
